Tim Atkin: The Carinus' outstanding Colombard comes from iron-rich, decomposed granite soils in the Swartland and is a wine that supersedes its relatively unglamorous grape variety. The vines
are still young, but the Rooidraai farm is key here, producing a white with wax, pear and citrus fruit intensity and stony, almost salty minerality.
