The 2017 vintage of the white blend known as Saskia is perhaps a little lighter and leaner than 2016 but it’s still exceptionally good.  Consisting of 71% Chenin Blanc, 14% Viognier, 8% Verdelho and 7% Clairette Blanche sourced variously from the Swartland and Voor Paardeberg, vinification involved spontaneous fermentation before maturation lasting 10 months in 400-litre barrels, 14% new.

The nose shows citrus, peach, earth and dried herbs while the palate is tightly packed with fresh acidity and a saline finish. Subtle, intricate and just very elegant.
